Project Description
NIURS team visited Koshi Province Capital- Biratnagar as part of the project entitled “Facilitating economic development through environmental governance in Koshi Province” from 15-16 March 2023. The objective of the visit was to introduce the project, discuss planned activities and collect feedback from major stakeholders and key partnering agencies of the province. During the visit, the team had meetings with the Officials of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers (Hon. Hikmat Kumar Karki- Chief Minister, Hon. Bhakti Prasad Sitaula, Minister- Ministry of Industry, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Hon. Nirmala Limbu- Minister, Ministry of Health), Province Investment Authority (Dr. Saroj Koirala, Chief Executive Director), Provincial Planning Commission (Jay Kumar Ghimire, Secretary), Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning (Shyam Prasad Bhandari, Secretary), Biratnagar Metropolitan City (Mayor- Nagesh Koirala) and Duhabi Municipality (Bed Narayan Gachhadar). The NIURS team included Dr. Jagadish C Pokharel, Kishore Thapa, Dr. Ajay C Lal, Om Dharananda Rajopadhyaya and Ranjan Bhatta. Besides, the team also visited Biratnagar Metropolitan City area and surrounding municipalities for contextual understanding of the project location.
