Nepal Institute for Urban and Regional Studies (NIURS) is a not-for-profit organization established in 2014 and registered with the government of Nepal. It is a multidisciplinary institution represented by regional planners, urban planners, architects, engineers, climate change experts, sociologists, economists, health experts, legal experts and business entrepreneurs. Its objective is to conduct research in urban and regional development issues, generate knowledge and information, conduct trainings and foster international cooperation in town, cities and regional planning. NIURS provides a platform for experts, professionals, policy makers and academicians to share their knowledge and experiences. It helps build public opinion on contemporary economic, social and technical issues affecting urban development. Its current research activities are focused on the New Urban Agenda declared by UN Habitat in 2016 and the corresponding national agenda approved by the Government of Nepal.
